Eversoul Madeira connects you with Tukxi Madeira for a private tuk tuk tour east along the coast from Funchal to Garajau. A local guide drives and the tuk tuk is yours alone.
What the route covers
The tour runs 2 hours and is rated easy. It climbs out of Funchal to the Pináculo viewpoint, which looks back over the city and the bay, then continues east to Garajau. The Cristo Rei statue stands on the headland there with its arms out over the Atlantic, above the Garajau partial nature reserve, protected since 1986 and the first marine reserve in Portugal. Your guide covers the history and the geology of the coast on the way.
Pickup and meeting point
Hotel pickup and drop-off is included free within the Funchal city area. Cruise passengers can add harbour pickup, which covers the port authority fee; if you book it, give the supplier your ship name, docking time, disembarkation time and departure time.
Who it suits
Minimum age is 3 years and children must be accompanied by an adult. Infants must not sit on laps and infant seats are not available. Portuguese law caps the combined weight of the passengers at 210 kg per vehicle.
The reserve below the headland is also one of the island’s better known dive sites. See scuba diving and snorkelling, or browse the rest of the tuk tuk tours in Funchal.
